Anyway, I have been talking so much about the reason to come to church service.
And we all know the ONE reason to come to church is to worship God!

But I have missed out something more important...

WHY DO YOU WANT TO WORSHIP GOD?

What is your motif when you worship Him?

What do you expect from Him when you worship?

What are you afraid of getting if you don't worship Him?

How you feel after every Sunday service?

Hi pebbles..

Saturday Service is still ON this Saturday!

We will start once a month service from March onwards.
On 1st March, we are going to have our first once a month Youth Worship!
The Publicity team will reveal the topic soon..

I understand that all of us are afraid of changes, me too!
However, don't be afraid! Changes is good for us!
I encourage you to follow the direction I had set for NLYM this year. It is for the good of the flock.
We want to focus on both BIG group and SMALL group!

1. Youth Worship (First Sat of the month),
2. Small Group Time and
3. Sunday Service (English, Chinese, Teochew)

These are the three areas that helps you to grow in Christ.. Of course, your own hang out time with God is also important! and LDC too.

The main reason we are changing sat service to once a month is because we want to create more intimate Sharing within the small group. I hope all of you will take this opportunity to know your sg members well..So that you can support, care and love one another.

IMPORTANT THINGS to take note!
1.We are not replacing Sat service with Small Group time.

2.We are not lessening your "feeding" time of God's Word! I promised you will be fed spiritually in your small group Bible study, provided you also put in effort to go for every small group meeting and cooperate with your leader (They are there to serve you not control you).

3.We STILL have the BIG group dynamic.. Through - First Saturday of the month Youth Worship, Youth Camp -Refresh 3.0, Christmas Party, English or Chinese Sunday Service..Where all of you can gather together to worship God together!

4. We are changing the way we run the youth ministry so that you can benefit from both big and small group of NLYM...and most importantly you can GROW in Christ.

5. We Youth Worker wants to give you the best! I encourage you to support this move.
It is a big risk that we are taking.
Why big risk? it is because... what if you failed to meet up in small group? what if the leader don't lead you well? what if some members are not serious about the bible study?
If all these happen... we may fail.. HOWEVER!
Remember what I said, God is sovereign! Even if man fails! He is still in control! I believe God will never forsake the righteous.. Have faith!

So HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you while school has started for the most of us. There's CNY to look forward to and welcome in the Rat Year.

What's so special about this post? Well, the photos on Sat were the courtesy of Bro. Darren Ling, who came down and snapped away with his Canon camera. He blasted away and here are some of his shots will be shown here. In the future, in the interest of updating the blog, Darren would be taking photos and I would find time to update it over in the US. Hopefully it turns out well...

Saturday Youth Fellowship (5th Jan 2007)

Our very own PIT spoke from the music stand on the plagues God brought upon Egypt that led to the exodus of the Israelites. Although the plagues were different from one another, they shared common differences that have serious implications for us. Do you remember them?

1. God is sovereign: are we serving Him?
2. God's power is unlimited: have we submitted to Him?
3. God controls the hearts of the wicked: what would God have said about you?
4. So what if God is sovereign? When we rebel, can people still see God's sovereignty in us?

Knowing God is sovereign is not enough: ultimately have to let God be sovereign in our lives.

Sunday Service (6th Jan 2008)

On the first Sunday of 2008, quite a lot was going on in NLC. Before the combined service, a LDC dedication service was held in the Teochew Worship hall, where Rev Choo shared on the importance of learning from God's Word, especially the need to ask questions in our lessons. Also, awards were given out to those who achieved 100% attendance for their LDC classes, and may they serve as examples for the rest!

Right after that, the main sanctuary welcomed everyone for the first combined combined service of 2008. Senior Pastor shared his message, titled 'Life is Beautiful - A New Year A New Hope', and spoke on the direction NLC will be taking for 2008. Still remember the proclamations we made in the hall?

1. I believe God's promise is demostrated through the church.
2. I believe the pastoral team iis sent by God to shepherd us.
3. I am God's equipped disciple. I believe God wants to use me.
4. Together with others, I want to build a united church.

Missionairies Attacked

Hey Everybody,

In the midst of the cheer and happiness we have enjoyed in the presence of each other, it might be a good idea to remember that not everybody gets to celebrate Christ's birth like us. We are indeed very fortunate to celebrate freely and not face opposition that can kill us.

Christians around the world choose to go through severe hardship in their ministry for God. Found this news article that reported on a missionary being persecuted by anti-Christian extremists in India. Not to be a wet towel or discourage anyone from being cheerful, but to point out that we should be joyful for such faithful servants of God. Missionaries are actively choosing to reach out regardless of persecution, and what can we learn from such examples?

Matish was attacked by anti-Christian extremists and was paraded around in the town. He asks for prayer for the missionaries there to be examples of Christ's love to those who persecute them, and for the extremists to know the Prince of Peace.

Guess we can learn quite a lot. Be thankful for what we have right now is one of them...and praying + encouraging such missionaries is a good idea too. Perhaps we have to examine our faith if it is as deep as we think it is. Or how about the risks we dare to take to spread the Gospel? Have we adopted an attitude of servanthood for God?

Carry your daily cross. I admit I fail at this, and let's do it together as a fellowship, as one body.

Had a rockin' good time? Well, it sure has been a busy period for lots of people and I am happy to make an entry (like the old times) on the past weekend. School's gonna start soon and hope you guys/gals have done your work!

NLYM Christmas Party 2007

The Bridge was a venue of festive cheer as fellow youth came to celebrate Christmas in fellowship...and keeping the real meaning behind this holiday in mind. Our very own PIT guaranteed he couldn't give us gifts that would satisfy all of us (like money), and preached on the true significance of Jesus. Are we ready to commit to Him for life?

Sunday Service (23rd Dec 2007)
The main sanctuary opened its doors to the congregation for NLC's Combined Service. Christmas was fast approaching, and people gathered to hear the message of the day. Rev Choo shared with us the great importance of Jesus to our lives, with a sermon titled 'Jesus in a Manger is the Saviour of the Human Race'.

NLC is well-known to love food, and this time was no different. The congregation was heartily treated to heaps of food, and spent the hot Sunday afternoon under the shade in fellowship and feasting.

Our dear Bro. Vincent will be preparing the message for the day, which would be followed by a catered dinner to fill our stomachs in loving fellowship.

Ok people!! Nathan here. I am sure u guys know about the outing to ecp and it is going to happen this sunday. And in case u are wondering, we are still going. Just that i dunno who is still going or not. But anw, i will be sending out sms'es to confirm. If really very few people den we ride uncle kelvin's bike in church. Still works just as fine : ) But anw, i dunno if it is going to be rain or shine on sunday coz i really dunno. So lets all pray for good weather ya? Anw, here are the details once again.

Day: 23 Dec (Sunday)
Place to meet: Driveway, same as the last time we went.
Place we are going: East coast park.
Time to meet: Impromptu. As we might be having long service time, we might end late or blah blah blah. Or even the luncheon. see how.

What to bring: Anything legal
What not to bring: Anything illegal

Transport: I really dunno about it, will try to arrange, but most likely some of us have to take cab, so pls do prepare. Not everytime there will be cars for everyone.

What are we going to do: Anything that satifies your hearts deepest desire.

OK guys!!!! Did a super quick vote today and decided it will be on 23 december!!! Anw, the last time we had the outing it was more of a free time thingy where evryone did what they wanted. So this time round, would you like to have some fun fun activities like throwing Vincent into the ocean? Or we can have some games like beach volleyball blah blah blah. Although i was thinking more of all of us going to cycle together. cool huh? Then those who prefer roller blading can roller blade with us. Just give some suggestions yeah? Or you would like to have free lunch catered on that day?(Keep dreaming...). Just give some suggestions yo. As it will be on a 23 december and the next day will be my birthday, please prepare a birthday gift ya?? ( Just kidding just kidding : P ). Just hope you guys would have a great time with each other on a xmas occasion!!! So that nobody would be lonely on the eve of christmas eve day yo. Till then, my ears are open to suggestions yo!!! Sorry guys if i am spamming the blog with changes and changes. haha. But Since i dun wanna spam, i edit the post! Smart? Ok, I was with some of you guys on saturday for a while and people keep saying that either 4 Nov or 11 Nov, there will be people who cant make it. So Our good old but weird Jeremy posted a date which i think is the most appropriate and best of the best dates. Yes guys, it sounds damn damn long time later, but yes, its on 23 dec. Why isit the best date? On 4th Nov, many of us will be going for the baptism reunion, which might mean the fun percentage will drop by 20%. On 11 Nov, Elliot cant make it and i tink eman or hui Qi cant make it too. That would mean 9% fun factor down too!! Yes they are fun people too!! And most of the older ones in tietary education will be having exams. BUT BUT BUT!!! There is hope!! How can we have the best time together? YES!! SMART PEOPLE!! By shifting it to 23 dec!! Why isit the best date? Firstly, Joshua will be back with us!! And he can take photos of moi!!! Secondly, all of us will be having our holidays as the next day is.....CHRISTMAS EVE!!!! And 24 DEC IS MY BIRTHDAY!!! WHEEE!! Sorry to self proclaim but i love my birthday date. But anw, back to the topic. Its same. On a sunday too!!! And O and A levels will have ended by then!!!! And poly and Uni students will be having their holidays!! So tat is why i tink that 23rd dec is the best date!! Go think bout it pebbles!! We vote on saturday yo??

Remember them?? YES!!! Its the youth outing to east coast park just a few months back!! (I think?? Or was it last year? ) But nvm!!! YES!!!! You guessed it all...WRONG!!! East coast park isn't at Jurong!! Its at.......WOODLANDS!!!! And YESSSSS!!!!!! We are going to go back to east coast park for our 2nd round of outing wheeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Are you excited about it??!!!! I certainly am!!! Do you remember the fun we had that time?? NO??? Then join us this Nov 4 to experience the fun all over again whoooooooo!!!I am sure some of you guys have already started your exams yo? Aint it good? You guys can have fun all day and sleep till late the next morning!!

Hi Guys

It was great being around for service today :) To see all of you after so long (only 2 months) and I guess a lot of things have happened! I'm happy for those who chose to be baptised today.

Managed to get 2 shots lol. Overseas and still taking pictures haha.

Will continue to pray for you all as we walk together in Christ. Do remember the 5 points Vinzzzz gave us:

- Enjoy God's Creation more than Man's invention.

- Allow God to Change you: He wants to make your life right.

- Talk to God: He loves you the most. (don't forget LDC)

- Be a good representative of Jesus: Do others see Jesus in you?

- Care for others: when it's the last time we cared for others with a lot of effort?

1) Timothy TAY led us with three songs.. Thanks! Good job! I can feel God's presence!

2) PIT preached the Word of God from Eph 4:1-16 - Three things you ought to do!
Live your life worthy of God's calling, Do your part in Church, Continue to grow in Christ!

3) We prayed for 45 mins on bended knees. Painful right? I felt is more painful than refresh 06.. maybe I'm getting old.. cant kneel long. And thanks for praying for your weak PIT.. I am weak but now I am strong too because you prayed for me! thank you so much.. My heart really need your prayers.. Pray for the door to function properly k? Thanks!

Hello Fellow Workers

How are you guys doing? Heh, it's only been a week or more since I left Singapore.

Well, I didn't have much time before I flew off, primarily due to me falling sick a couple of times on my last week in Singapore. I guess you guys didn't get to see them, and here I present them to you!

I can't really do a write-up for all the 4 days (2 Sat, 2 Sun), as it is really time-consuming, and I wouldn't want to delay the time you get to see them. Anyway, I'll provide some choice shots, and I invite you to view the rest of the photos.

Sat Service (11th Aug 2007)

The Bridge opened its doors to the youth, for the last episode of the current sermon series: H.A.B.I.T.S.

'S' stood for 'Studying Scripture'. Want ot know God more? Reading His Word is essential to every Christian.

Hall 401 saw the congregation coming back for the English Service. Blue chairs welcomed our churchgoers and the worship team led us in song and worship.

Speaker of the Day was Pastor Steven Wee, and his message was titled 'Jesus - Our Ticket to Eternity'.

Have you adopted the 'Eternity Mentality'? It is cruicial as our eternity starts NOW.

Sat Service (18th Aug 2007)

This Saturday brought a new beginning. It signalled a new change in Sat Service, as we started out on SG Bible Study for Ephesians!

Well, it was Nizam's birthday and my last Sat service too. So we came together to wish Nizam 'Happy Birthday' and say farewell to Josh.

Also, we had pizza for dinner in church! Although I couldn't stay for the sumptous dinner, my camera managed to take some shots of the event.

Sunday Service (19th Aug 2007)

As the sun rose on the morning of 19th Aug, did you wake up to a new day believing in the graciousness of God? He simply saved us through Amazing Grace.

Jesus paid the price for your sins, and that was the topic of Elder Yeoh's sermon of the day. He came to save us from the sin we are trapped in. Jesus is the only way, there's no other way.

He is waiting for your answer.

Treasure Hunters (4th August)

Our little Treasure Hunters returned to NLC on a Sat morning, ready to praise God in worship and waiting for the activity of the day...

It was Balloon Blast as the kids were treated to a puppet show hosted by Aunty Jess and her crew. Later, we made animal balloons together and played with them until the end.

Youth Saturday Service (4th August)

The 4th of Aug was graced by a special person...and he was no other than our Bro. Moses!

Also, it was the first time we came back o the Bridge for Sat Service, since our move to Hall 401 above.

The message was prepared and given by Bro. Vincent Lim. He touched on an essential topic all Christians should take seriously: Giving to the Church.

Money isn't the only thing we can offer...and are we really giving God as we should?

The 5th was the first Sunday of the month, and that meant it was Combined Service for NLC!

Senior Pastor presented to us his sermon, titled 'Jesus - Your Ticket to Eternity'. Mrs. Eunice Lee was his interpreter.

How to Pray

Hi Guys

It's Joshua here and this time it's not about photos, it's about something more important: Prayer.

Right here, I admit that I am still a 'young Christian' and for those who prayed with me, forgive me if they were awkward :P Even now, I can't say I have prayed enough to God. Saying grace only doesn't exactly count right?

Well, I came upon this online book written by K.P. Yohannan, head of the Gospel for Asia organization.

This is a must-read for anyone who wants to really come close to our Loving Father. Heh, that should be all of us. Of course, the Bible also counts as a daily must-read ;)

God's a Relational God and we as His Children talk to Him through prayer. We all could use the great Power of Prayer in our lives. Do we really know How to Pray?

The Letter Of PIT to NLYM

Dear NLYM members,

It has been long since my last post on pebbles.
I think it is time for me to write something. PLEASE READ EVERY WORD and tell others in NLYM to read this post.. thank you..

Recently, we (youth workers) noticed that something is wrong in the Youth Fellowship. I am sure some of you felt it too. One of you told me that it is not like the past anymore, “Why like that? What happened? last time not like dat leh! There is no love in fellowship”. Is he/she right?

As the shepherd of NLYM, I should be able to look at the big picture of the whole NLYM and tell you the currently condition of NLYM. And the purpose of this letter is to tell you the heart condition of NLYM according to my observation.

Please NOTE!
What I am going to say may sound like I am talking about an individual.. I hope you understand why I need to use some of you as an example in this letter.
This is because I want you to learn an important truth! YOU ARE A BODY OF CHRIST! ALL OF YOU PLAY A PART IN THIS BODY! If one of you is not doing well, it is very natural that the whole body will be affected! So! if I sounded like I am talking about you, don’t take it too hard ok? It is also for all of us to learn how to walk TOGETHER as FELLOWSHIP.

1) Tired

Singapore is celebrating her 42th birthday soon! It is sad that some of our students cannot really celebrate this big day peacefully. This is because their mind is filled with WORK! Homework! You really need to pray for those having BIG EXAMs this year... I talked to one of them yesterday, I can tell that she is really stressed and tired too. Are you tired?

YW and SL, thanks for your service in NLYM! I can sense that some of you are tired of this ministry. Some may want to give up when they see so many “problems” in NLYM. You see people not coming to SG, people don’t appreciate your care, people don’t listen to you and don’t apply what you have taught them.

Some of you felt that there is a lot of changes these days.. why can’t we have a perfect model for NLYM? Why can’t we stay as it was said? I got no answer for that... Maybe the reason is.. we are serving a fast changing generation..

Thanks for your perseverance in this Ministry. If one day you feel like quitting, just let me know. It is OK! But don’t ever quit following Christ! The most important is your relationship with God and people.

In my hang out time with God today, He reminded me that if the leader is not right, truth will not be able to stand firm in the church anymore. NLYM! have you ever prayed for your leaders before? pray for them.. they need your support too! The best support that you can give them is... Respect them. Respect your leaders.

Youth workers and student leaders, are you tired of serving in NLYM? If you are.. I encourage you to slow down and pray... Ask God to give you strength! Renew you again.. Vincent asked of God’s strength almost everyday, I think you should too!
I don’t know about you, every prayer means a lot to me, is not just about asking God for strength and wisdom.. but it is also for me to connect with God, so that I can do His Work with Him effectively.

YW and SL.. I am sorry that I may have neglected you. I may have hurt you. Forgive me if I did not give you enough training and care before putting you into ministry. I am guilty of that... But I will not give up on any of you... I will continue to lead YW and SL...

I know some of you are tired, but just don’t give up on loving God and the youths...

2) Hurts

Recently, I guess you have seen people crying almost every week. Why they cried? because they are hurt? or because they just feel like crying? What is your first reaction when you see someone cry? Someone must have broke his/her heart? Or God’s Word from Vincent’s preaching caused he/she to cry? OR I must give him/her a tissue? OR “What? Cry again? Don’t Care!”

I think our first reaction should be “How to help this person to move on?”

I thank God for the tears in NLYM.. if NLYM is a happy happy place like those tourist you find in Disneyland, then I think something is wrong with my leadership and preaching.
I AM NOT AN ENTERTAINER! I repeat! I am not called to be an Entertainer! Nor I am an organizer of GAMES, SPORTS OR FUN EVENTS! I am not a refresh camp organizer too!

But I am called to preach the Word of God and lead His sheep! The Word of God is suppose to pierce through your heart and make you cry and think about - “DO I REALLY LOVE GOD? AND HIS PEOPLE?”

There are two reasons why people cry.. Pierce by the Word of God OR Hurt by someone.

It is OK to cry in NLYM. I don’t expect everyone to be happy happy all the time!
When someone is sad, you should be glad too! because God is giving all of us a chance to express love and care to that person and it is also a chance for us to grow into a deeper relationship with God!

3) Reconciliation

Yesterday, God gave me a chance to talk to a small group for almost 2 hours. There are lots of misunderstanding in this group that needed the PIT to reconcile all of them, but the reconciliation of these people is still done by God in the end. I have limited wisdom. God is the one who touched their heart to reconcile with one another! I am touched by their firmness to continue to stay as a small group.. This shows that they really love one another and they want to grow spiritually together.

It is my prayer that this group will grow up to be WOMAN of God.. useful for God’s Kingdom and make Jesus famous!

What if in the near future, misunderstanding happen within small group again? What should we do? Sad about it? Run away from the problem? Let the problem grow bigger? NO!

I want you all to reconcile as soon as possible.. Don’t wait till sunset!

Christianity is a faith about RECONCILIATION between God and Man.
Let me give you a picture to visualize. Imaging a cone.. The base of the cone represent all of us.. We are all connected with one another, in one Church. The one and only sharp tip of the cone is God, we are all connected to God. We are all pointing people to God above.

Christianity is about reconciliation between Man and Man too!

Always remember to settle dispute asap in a wise way! this is one of the way to stop gossips too! If you don’t know how to settle dispute.. please come to me or your leader... We want to help you!

4) Boy Girl Relationship

I am leading a group of male and female sheep.. surely you will be attracted to each other. I can’t stop it too! Because opposite attracts! I thank God you are not attracted to the same sex, you know what I mean. But I also want you all to be wise in handling BGR in church or outside church.

I want to set this rule in NLYM... if you like someone in NLYM or outside of church..

First thing you need to do is - COME AND TELL ME! Don’t worry, I won’t scold you OR ask you to erase that person from your memory! I will guide you through this. Indeed some of you have already experienced my guidance, not perfect though, but at least not so hurting.
Secondly, do not tell everyone in NLYM except your small group members, and the small group should keep it confidential within the group too.
Thirdly, i want the small group to pray for this person, ask God to show him/her clearly whether is it “PUPPY LOVE” (most of time is like dat lah!)
Fourthly, do not tease that person if you know about it!
Lastly, be opened to advices given by your leader.. take their advice.. they are wise in this issue.. hehe

Four issues: Tiredness, Hurts, Reconciliation and BGR..

I don’t want to call these issues as crisis for NLYM..

It sounded TOO NEGATIVE! Rather, I see it as a means that God used to build up warriors for Christ! If you know how to handle all these, I am sure our Father in Heaven will be pleased too! because you are obeying His command.. He want us to serve Him no matter what happen, He wants us to help others, He wants us to love one another, He wants us to take every relationship seriously, He wants us to reconcile with Him and people..

Hope you have the perseverance to read the whole letter... Praise God you did it!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening!

Welcome to this humble blog in the internet. Have you been hanging out with God lately? If you haven't, don't feel guilty and I encourage you to do so soon :)

Guys are dominating the tag board on the right, and it's starting to feel like a 'guy-blog' with a guy also updating the entries. Maybe girls might find tagging a waste of time haha.

Do continue to pray for our Huzaen, who is still overseas and I can guess he is dying to come back to Singapore soon. He's coming back soon as do pray for his safety, well-being and most importantly, to keep running the good race.

We offer our condolences to Li Wei's family, as they start the week after Li Wei's passing away. Li Wei has gone on to a better place and her departure has been deeply felt in the NLC. Pray for God to comfort them and be with them, as it is a trying time for them.

Treasure Hunters (28th July)

The 28th was indeed something to look forward to. It was an outing to the Farm all the way at Seletar West. Not only did we get to see different types of animals up close, we also to feed them too! Right after that, we did some stream fishing before heading back exhausted from the rigors of the day.

We can safely say that the children had a good time (along with the parents and adults that followed (: ) Many thanks go out to all who made the event possible, kudos to the team as they really made it a great time.

All Saturdays are something to look forward to in NLYM. For one, we welcomed back Jiayi from his internship in the USA...and Zijing from the sunny island of Tekong!

Sunday Service (29th July)

It was a Special Singaporean Sunday for a certain someone. NLC welcomed back Bro. Siming all the way from Mumbai! Sure everyone was elated to have him back.

Hello Pebbles, Rocks, and Stones,

Youth Saturday Service (14th July 2007)

Saturday was far from over after the end of Treasure Hunters! Hall 401 opened its doors to welcome our youths for the next episdode of H.A.B.I.T.S!

In this 2nd part, we explored what 'A' was...and that was Accountability. Developing this habit will definintely change your life and friendships!

After service ended, the youth rallied behind Elder Jeff as the chairs and tables needed arranging for tomorrow's big Durian Party. No shots here since I was involved haha.

That wasn't the end of Saturday as some of the youth stayed in NLC to catch New Hearts Ministry's 10th Anniversary concert. It was a concert not to forget as people filled up the main sanctuary until the 2nd floor!

NLC Durian Party (15th July 2007)

If you're looking for a Special Sunday to remember, the 15th certainly qualifies as one. What was everyone looking forward to? Of course, the durians for the party!

The main sanctuary was filled and we had to open the 2nd floor. The message was delievered by Rev Dr. Abraham and Mrs. Eunice Lee was the interpreter. It was titled, 'Jesus - The Great Gift Giver', and do well to focus on the giver.

Well, I was on PA duty and yeah...I didn't take shots during the preparation and service. Some of the guys helped take 'em.

Hello there!

How are you guys doing? It's been 3 days since Sunday Service and it's 3 days more to Youth Saturday Service! (wow)

Do keep on praying for our fellow youth. Liwei is in hospital and your prayers for her are greatly appreciated. Siming and Huzaen are overseas right now, while Jiayi should be back soon. Do pray for their safety and to put God first in their foreign endeavours...reaching out to others.

In this entry, we have photos from 3 events! What are they? Well, they're Treasure Hunters, Sat Service and Sun Service from 7 - 8th Jul.

Treasure Hunters (Day 1)

Early in the morning of 07/07, the church welcomed our Treasure Hunters staff! They came down and did all the setup before the kids came in. It is a 10 week programme on Saturday designed for kindergarten children. A wide range of activities have been planned for our fortunate children.

As it is the first day, Treasure Hunters was officially kicked off by our Senior Pastor in a opening ceremony. Registration came first before the slew of events that were to follow...

Sunday Service (8th July 2007)

NLC hums with life every Sunday, and this one was no different! The congreagation came back to worship God and receive the message. All 3 services shared the same one, 'Jesus - The Restorer of Life'.

However, I was on PA duty in Chinese Worship, and that explains the lack of photos during service. Anyway, here are some of the shots I took on Sunday:

Hello Guys :)

How have you all been doing? School has just started for a few and I hope you enjoyed your youth day/holiday! Well, don't forget the Lord's presence in every second of your life, and ask ourselves a crucial question: Are you a true Christian?

Keep praying for our youth out there! Siming, Chucky and Huzaen are still overseas and do pray for them. Also, Liwei is on the road of recovery and do pray for her too. Your prayers are all appreciated. God's Will be done.

Saturday Youth Service (30th June 2007)

This is the 3rd and last installment of the sermon series on a monumental battle that rages on: Jesus vs. Satan. In this 3rd round, Vincent shared on a segment from Rev 20:11-15. It was about the final judgement, the judgement is based on our works on Earth, the resurrection of the dead and the Book of Life.

Is there anything in your life you are still doing that is sinful? Be a true Christian!

Sunday Service (1st July 2007)

As with every first Sunday of the months in NLC, it was a combined service. The church congregated together into the Main Sanctuary for the service.

The message of the day was prepared and delivered by Rev Dr Abraham Lee. Remember about the hierarchy of needs? Zachaeus nearly had everything except something. Jesus was out there to meet that need.

And let's move on to the photos.

Hello Everybody!

Wow weeks fly past and after this Youth Day many of us resume schooling all over again. Haha my school hasn't started yet anyway :)

We didn't have any Youth Service last Saturday and allow me to present to you: some photos from last Sunday's service!

Sunday Service (24th June 2007)

The 24th marked the first Sunday Service after Refresh '07, and the last day of the June holidays for quite a few of us...and it was a day that didn't lack action. I was doing PA duty so there isn't much for the service.

Refresh '07 Photos

Hi Guys!

It has almost been a week since the camp ended, and didn't we all have a good time? I'd like to announce that the photos I have taken are uploaded! There are about 10 albums there for your viewing pleasure.

There are loads of photos of each day, and I would be presenting some highlights to you guys. It is highly reccommended to visit the album and catch the action caught on camera. Also maybe pick up a potential display pic (if you have one) haha.

I know that others have taken quite a few photos during the camp, and would you like to share them with the rest of us? If you'd like to, I would be more than happy to help yer out. Thing is, I don't have any photos for the beach games we played.

In addition, if you would like to have any of the originals, feel free to contact me and I would pass it to you.

And without further ado...let's move on to the photos!

Refresh Camp Day 1 - Sentosa Race, 'Parents', 'Whack if you Don't Know'

The 'Sentosa Race' kicked off the whole camp and we saw teams chasing the clues down. Tasks included collecting water from a dragon and even eating to win! Congratulations go out to our winners...actually that's everybody since you all received something.

That was soon followed by the allocation of bunks and the pebbles were soon introduced to their beds for the next 4 days. Blankets, pillow cases and bed sheets were given out to the youth.

After that was done, we came back together for the service. Joel Ong shared with us his message titled, 'Parents'. Do well to honour your parents.

A whacky game came after the service, and the youth were treated to a roudy game. Lucky youth who were called out had to answer a question regarding the person sitting on the chair. Get it wrong and water or a whack await you. Of course, Vincent had been pelted by the many balls you threw at him.

Refresh Camp Day 2 - 'Self-Worth', Sentosa Idol

The 2nd day started with morning devotions. After taking sometime to read and meditate on the material at the benches, the youth made their way down to Palawan Beach for a 'mini-service'. Do you remember what Moses and Joshua did?

What's a camp without food? We had the privilege of having the canteen serve us nourishing meals 3 times a day. They really kept us going!

After our free time, the youth congregated in the hall for the next service of the camp! It was Johan's turn to share his message and it was titled, 'Self-Worth'.

And what came at night? That's right, Sentosa Idol and your inner craziness came popping out! Who could forget the antics you all came up on stage? Nerd fashion, Mastercard Ads and even some sexually questionable moves took the stage. You all did a great job as you stretched your comfort zones.

Refresh Camp Day 3 - 'Dating and Sex', Sentosa Walk, Mini Durian Party

On the 3rd day, the youth woke up early in the morning for devotions. Like the previous day, we lumbered our way down to Palawan Beach except Jeremy forgot his guitar haha. Remember the decisions made by the disciples at Jesus's hard teachings? Our walk with Him is difficult but worth it all.

The youth were really fed well by the canteen. Bee Hoon awaited for us for breakfast. For lunch, we had rice with vegetables, curry chicken, egg and tofu.

After spending our free time in Sunny Sentosa, the hall welcomed us back for service. Vincent shared on 'Dating and Sex'. Hope you guys remember how to date intelligently and the 5 common guidelines...and other pointers provided by our PIT.

Before we embarked on the Sentosa Walk, we decended upon the canteen and filled ourselves with dinner. We had the privilege of having Elder Ong to say grace for us.

Right after filling our stomachs, we prepared ourselves for the next event on the schedule: the Sentosa Walk. It was a walk that brought us around the Sentosa Island, passing by attractions along the way. The Dragon Trail was one of the highlights of the walk.

That was not the end of the day for some of the youth! Elder Ong kindly bought durians for us and we sure had a feast in the canteen! Husks and seeds were all that was left behind of the hapless durians.

Refresh Camp Day 4 - Homecoming

On the final day of the camp, the youth were given extra time to sleep after the walk that ended late at night. We had our last breakfast in the canteen, which was gobbled up in record time. Bread, sausages and baked beans do score well with youth.

After that, we proceeded to pack up and get all of our stuff in good order. Rooms were checked out and lost belongings were being accounted for. With their bags packed up, the youth were rady to head back home.

Some of us followed the bus back to church to help unload the stuff in the Bridge, while the rest made their way back home.

Hi there peeps!

How are you all doing? I was dead tired and I slept for 6 hours straight after coming home. Bleh...anyway, I will be doing my best to upload photos onto the blog and I am starting from the last last week. So I have to say that the Refresh photos will take some time, and they will be out soon.

Li Wei is in the stages of getting well and the road does seem long for her. Continue to keep her in our prayers and God's Will be done. Your prayers are appreciated.

Also, some of our youth are currently overseas. Brothers Siming, Jiayi and Huzaen are away and will only be back in a couple of months. Pray for their safety as they go about in their foreign duties.

Youth Saturday Service (9th June 2007)

The 9th was certainly a special Saturday for NLYM, for it was the first time the youth service shifted from the cosy Bridge to its new venue: Hall 401. Our new friends were treated to a landmark event.

Lots of preparation was in place to ensure the running of the service went by smoothly. Thanks go out to Bro. Hock Seng who kindly came down to help out in the PA/MM.

Also, it was the first episode of a new sermon series, 'Jesus versus Satan', and the NLYM drama team came up with a skit for the youth. I guess none of you would forget the antics of Jeremy in his Scream mask.

The sermon of the day was delivered by the PIT, Vincent Lim. Do you remember the profiles of Jesus and Satan? There is a huge difference between them and do well to choose wisely. A revealing question was asked of us, 'Do you know Jesus well enough?'. Do well to seek after His heart.

Sunday Service (10th June 2007)

This Sunday was one not to be missed - that is if you were on the ROMJ cruise. A few of our very own youth went on the cruise.

It was Combined Service for the day, and the congregation came together in the main sanctuary for the service. Rev Dr Abraham Lee presented to us 'Jesus - Turn You Emptiness into Abundance', and Mrs Eunice Lee was his interpreter.

In the message there was 1 telling question that we should do well to remind ourselves frequently - Are you inviting Jesus into the marriage of your life?'. He is more than happy to be part of the marriage.

Hello There!

It's Joshua here again with the photos of you guys...and for you guys. Yeah these are a bit old and that was due to my 'busy-ness'. Argh I am suffering from one of the B.A.D lol. Better avoid it again heh.

Have you been seeking God in your time outside church? God loves you all as His Children, He listens to you and will never chase you out. It is a good step to read the Bible everyday (a small bit even) and really think about what is written. Knowledge doesn't hurt, except for headaches :P

Thanks go out to those who have sincerely prayed for our brothers and sisters. Let's not forget of fellow brothers or sisters who need our prayers, especially in times of need. Well, Sister Li Wei is still in the stage of recovery and I encourage you to continue praying for her recovery. Do keep them in mind.

Youth Saturday Service (26th May 07)

It was the 3rd installment of the B.A.D sermon series, and the topic was Doubts. The message was given on the stage by Vincent the PIT. Doubts can cast considerable shadows on our relationship with God. It is wise to look out for them. Do we recognize these doubts, and if so, how do we overcome them?

Well, the notes are with Vincent and don't forget to collect them back when he is done :)

Well guys, I was on MM duty for 27th May so I don't have any photos for that day. That means we shall move on with last Sat!

Youth Saturday Service (27th May 07)

Don't you agree that all Saturdays in NLYM are special? Okay maybe we aren't getting some things right...and this Saturday was all about it! It was a rare break in between the sermon series and Vincent gave us 5 pointers why we don't love others well.

1. You divide your love for people
2. You love yourselves more than anyone
3. You don't know how to love
4. You love when you are good mood
5. You are not born of God

We are commanded to love others, and lovely people, do take note of these 5 points :) They are good to remember.

Hello Peeps!

I guess you are all quite aware that the photos haven't been posted up on time, and I say you all are right. Well, I haven't found the time to upload them and present them in a cohesive fashion on this blog.

Please keep Li Wei in your prayers, as she is still on the road to recovery. Thanks goes out to those who have prayed for her. We can never know if we will meet with such situations, but rest assured that God is in full control. Continue to pray for her.

Youth Saturday Service (19 May 2007)

In this second installment of B.A.D, the youth came together yet again to hear the message on a prevalent problem in our lives: Addiction. The message was prepared and presented by our very own Vincent Lim. Although we had no slides to speak of, Joel took the initiative to type out the slides as the sermon went.

We face the dangers of addiction everyday and even worse, indulge in it and putting God off 'till later. What do you worship in life? Remember the Addiction Cycle? It is never too late to get out of the pig house/sty!

Sunday Service (20 May 2007)

Every Sunday is a special day, and this one is no different. The sermon of the day was titled 'Jesus - The Harmony Between Man and God', and delivered by Elder Yeoh. Jesus is Immanuel and has gifted us peace and access to God. Are we living and loving like Jesus?

Hello Gals/Guys!

Did you pick up your Bible today? Well, hope your week has been good and do remember to put God first in your lives. Addictions can really chew away from our relationship with God, even when you don't know it's happening. Are we addicted to our screens? Hope you are not!

Did you guys remember the lessons presented on Sat and Sun? Maybe a quick look through the worksheets and notes would help. It is good to internalise and apply the lessons we have the privilege of listening to.

Our prayers are still with Li Wei, who is still in the stages of recovery. We welcome anyone who would like to donate blood for her. Please contact Vincent if you would like to donate.

Youth Saturday Service (12th May 07)

Saturday saw the dawn of a new sermon series: The Weapons of the Devil: BAD. The sermon touches upon what Satan uses to deceive us from having a deep relationship with Our Father. Do they apply to you/me?

We had Vinzzz present to us the first sermon of the series, and his sermon was titled 'Busyness' and the key verse was Matt 4:1-4. We have to ask ourselves: 'What are we fighting for?'. Remember we have a choice to make the right response.

Sunday Service (13th May 07)

The 13th was Mothers' Day, and NLC sure had treats in store for all parents! We had the privilege of having Sis Pan Xiu Qiong coming down to share her testimony with us. Also, she serenaded the Church with songs during her sharing.

The sermon of the day was titled, 'Celebration for Our Parents - A Demonstration of God's Grace!', given to us by our very humorous senior pastor, Rev Dr Abraham Lee. Meanwhile, Sis Deborah Ang was the interpreter. Did you show appreciation for your parents? Love is about understanding, action and assurance.

Instead of celebrating Mothers' Day, NLC celebrated Parents' Day and held a lunch to honour them. It was certainly a huge luncheon and everyone had a good time in the MPH...

The morning started with some 'handsomeness', Nathan and Zhongyang posing for this one:

Hello Brothers and Sisters!

The weekend certainly a memorable one and did you all have a fruitful time? We had the privilege of having Joseph coming down to share his message with us on Sat. Also, NLC kicked off the ROMJ campaign with the first service in the main sanctuary, which was followed by a massive '100 Dishes' Big Luncheon.

Our prayers also go out for Sister Li Wei, who is currently recovering back to a stable condition. Thanks to all who have prayed for her, and continue to do so! She hasn't fully recovered yet, God is in full control of the situation and he hears our prayers. Please keep her in our prayers.

Saturday Youth Service (05 May 07)

Every Saturday is something to look forward to in NLYM, and this Sat Service was certainly one to remember. We had the privilege of Joseph coming down to present his message to us. He taught us on 'The Omni-Potence of God'. Still need a little reminder? Looking up Romans 1: 18-25 would help.

The afternoon started with the worship team coming down early for rehearsal:

Hymn of Response came right after, and here are some of the shots taken. Later, Joseph came up on stage and asked for some of us to come forward in humility and dedicate our lives to God. Together we prayed for all in the service.

Sunday Service (06 May 07)

This Sunday was indeed a special one! It was the first time the main sanctuary was open for service and NLC kicked off the ROMJ campaign! Rev Dr Lee shared his message titled, 'Running Empty? Come Get Energized!', with Deaconess Lisa doing the interpretation. Reference verse was John 3:16-17.

Right after that, the congregation was treated to the '100 Dishes' Luncheon and hungry stomachs made short work of the food! There was a wide range of delicious dishes available, and they all were gobbled up. Thanks goes out to those who were involved in the set up and clean up of the luncheon! It was a massive project and thank God it went on well.

As the sermon ended, the worship team performed 'My Times are in Your Hand', as the usherers collected the tithes.

Rev Choo and Elder Jeff came up to lead us in the Holy Communion. 'When I Survey the Wonderous Cross' filled the hall, as the bread and cup were distributed out to the congregation.

That was followed by the Love Offering collection, a fund dedicated for the needy in church.

After the closing prayer, the announcements followed and we welcomed new friends to NLC!

As service ended, we moved out from the sanctuary to the MPH beside...for the '100 Dishes' Big Luncheon! Boy was the crowd big!

Youth Saturday Service (28th Apr 07)

Hello Everybody!

How are your exams going on? The end is near and there is one month of holiday (with Refresh Camp) to look forward to! Just hang in there and do your best.

Well, we had another Youth Saturday Service on the 28th of April, and it was great. The sermon of the day was 'Omniscience of God', and prepared by our very own PIT! Are your memories of the sermon a bit foggy? Do look up the worksheets provided and read up Psalms 139: 1-6 to clear the fog.

Remember girls and guys, the best way of using the lessons is to apply them to your life. Nothing beats that.

This Saturday certainly began well, with some youth going around with 'business'...

Aren't all Sundays special? We had English Service and guess what? Our very own Vincent Lim had a message to share with all of us! His message was titled 'Understand the "Why" to Embrace the "All"'. Need a refresher? Check out Colossians 3:22-25.

Do your best in everything with an attitude that you are serving the Lord. You are motivated to do your best because you are assured with God's reward, God's power and God's justice!

What do you see in this picture? pigeons? birds? male or female? all male? all female?

I see a small group wanting to survive! trying to get fed only.. And notice, none feed one another. They are all out war for themselves to survive.. You don't see beak to beak..

What do you see in your small group? Like them too? trying to feed yourself all the time? trying to gain something all the time? Going to small group is a war against time? wanting it to end soon? Hi and Bye? Fun only? Games? Laugh? Joke?

What is your definition of small group? This sunday!

For the first time in NLYM!
I am going to combine all the small group! It going to be a mixed group, meaning guys and girls together! I did tell some of you that this week we are going to combine..
I want to open this Combine Small Group session to all small group.. including the younger ones.. (I leave it for the group leader to decide whether you want to join us)

1) Tell me your definition of small group (I will arrow if you don't volunteer to speak, be prepared)
2) Watch <20 mins video (Staring Vincent again)
3) Go into mixed small group to talk about "What is faithfulness to you?"
4) Share and Pray for one another in your small group

We will meet at 12 pm @ thebridge this Sunday.

Hi Guys and Girls!

How are you all doing? Hope you all enjoyed yourselves for the past 2 days. They were great and thanks be to God for He blessed us greatly. We had Vincent giving us a message on Saturday, Mr Sim Kay Tee teaching us how to be rich towards God, and we capped it off with an outing in sunny ECP.

Well, I took some photos (as usual haha) and here they are. Just some snapshots followed by the URLs for the albums. if you would like the original, go ahead to ask for it from me and I'll do my best to give it to you.

Oh yeah, I highly recommend that you guys check out the album, as I don't wanna overload the blog. Also, there's some nice pics were taken by other people playing with my camera too.

Sunday Service (11 Mar 07)

The day starts off with the worship band rehearsing early and PA/MM tuning up (Darren jumped at my shot):

And here's our speaker of the day, Mr Sim Kay Tee, the sermon was 'Reaching Out for Life's Abundance'. Remember, be rich towards God!

Praises and thanksgiving

Hey Guys and gals of NLYM!! Nathan is back here again to waste ur time. But anyway. I dunno whether u guys had fun or not but lets all give thanks and praises to God for the great weather yesterday!! Thank God for the sufficient amount of transport!! (was getting scared there was'nt enough transport). Thank God for keeping us all safe while we are having fun and fellowship! Thank God for east coast park where we can have fun and thank God for the money for us to eat and have dinner. Thank God for transport back home! All i could see yesterday was God's guidance and love and Grace. So thank God for everything ya? Oh yeah. Thanks to Johan , Vincent and of course!! Kai xiang's Dad for fetching the older one's there!! Watch out for the next outing!! Some people oredi suggested SENTOSA!!! haha!! We'll see how God say about that. Till then, i wish all younger ones a happy holiday! 1 week is alot of rest for you guys ( But i got 6 months holidays lei : P , I'm rotting! ) And i wish all the older ones happy studying and have fun in school! ( i dun have school until next month leis : P ) Till then! This Nathan signing off to continue my 5 month slacking at home! TooraH!!!

Outing to ECP

Hey guys and girls of NLC pebbles!!! This is Nathan here!! Anw. This sunday we are having an outing to East coast park. We are going there to have fun and ride bikes or anything u can think of!! Food will not be served. but most likely i will bring the drinks ya?? As for transport wise. I will try to request for the church van to be borrowed. but my Dad has kindly and happily requested that he can fetch us there. But me Daddy's van can only fetch 15 -18 people. provided i kick my mum out of the van :P (just kidding) But my Dad will not be fetching me mummy. so goody!(maybe). But anw, if there are more people and not enough space for transport. I would like to propose the guys take public transport ya?? Or you can request we all go there by public transport to save the world's resources. Otherwise, i will try my best to arrange transport. Oh yeah!! Do bring money along yeah?? we can all have lunch after we all had fun. If u wanna come, Do contact me or Vincent yeaps??! The purpose of the outing is for you guys to destress and have fun!! Those who wanna study oso can go there and study. and take care of our bags at the same time. see! kill 2 birds with one stone. WACHAAAA!

Details:

-Meet at level 1 asap. Possibly by 12.15pm. ( straight after service )

-Pls bring an extra change of clothes and maybe towel if you wanna bath after that.
(But pls do not wear beach clothes to service pls. respect God)

-Transport will be provided but be prepared to go by public transport (mostly for guys)

-Bring slightly around 20 dollars for food and drinks. Pls do not bring expensive stuff there ya? and make sure your pockets are tight enough to hold your handphone. Nlc youth will not be responsible for any lost stuff.

- we might reach there at around 2pm if u guys are fast. haha! U can leave anytime you wan. But we might pack up at around 6-7pm. You can volunteer to pack up after that ya?? haha!

-Food will not be served but drinks might be provided. So do bring an extra few bucks for food.

Hello Guys and Girls!

It is Joshua here and didn't we have a fruitful time for the past 2 days? On Sat, we had the worship band leading us (supported by Ray) and Zajamo came down to speak to us. Thanks to Zajamo for coming down and speaking to us about Encouragement! We are here to encourage each other in our journey with Christ, we are not alone at all.

On Sun we came together again for combined service as Rev Dr Abraham Lee taught us that we can indeed have peace in this uptight world. Thank God that we have such opportunities to learn and to learn how to be more like Jesus.

In regard to both sermons, not only should we remember their lessons, but apply it in our lives too. That is really important.

'ello Guys!

Hope you all enjoyed yourselves the past 2 days. We had a great service on Saturday while we experienced an eventful Sunday 'lo hei'. Don't feel bad having to start school all over again tomorrow (and work for the few of us),

Most importantly, absorb and apply what you have learned from the speakers and Sunday schools. They do not make us 'better Christians', but better equipped Christians if we choose to take in the lessons presented to us. How deep is your love for God?

Anyway, all of you have seen me snapping pictures of you fantastic people, and yes here is the time I present to you all the photos! Bible Summary

Hey Guys!

Hope you all are having a good time and looking forward to usher in the New Year! Guess you all would have new clothes and dreams of hongbaos...but don't ever forget God. Thank Him for all you have :)

Anyway, as I was reading my Bible, I noticed that they provided a line for each chapter that summarizes what the chapter's about. I think it would be useful to list it here and let you guys have a look see. Maybe copy and paste it on Word, print it and put it somewhere you see daily (like your table).

Let's say you are not sure if you have been saved, then look at the list and perhaps lookup Galatians, a chapter that states that Christians are saved by grace. Or if you have questions on the validity in believing in God, you could try Ecclesiastes. where a wise man reasons out his belief in God.

Remember, the OT and NT cannot exist without each other. It is encouraged to read both and appreciate the many links the two share.
